Short Biography

The parents of Rema are Late Hamida Nabbosa and the late Mukiibi Ssemakula. She was welcomed to the family at Lubaga Hospital on April 24, 1991, and she is the lastborn of the family, meaning that Rema has older siblings.

For her primary school education, she started attending Kitante Primary School. She proceeded to study for both O-Level and A-Level studies at Saint Balikudembe Senior Secondary School.

When the time was right to pursue her higher education, She attended the Kyambogo University in Uganda.

Rema got involved in a romantic relationship with Ugandan recording artist Eddy Kenzo. On December 26, 2014, Rema Namakula delivered a daughter at Paragon Hospital in Bugolobi, Kampala district.

Edrisa Musuuza popularly known as Kenzo who has had a daughter named Maya Musuuza from a former relationship and admitted being the father f Rema’s daughter, and they named the newborn Aamaal Musuuza now four years old in  2019.

Music Career

She started singing karaoke during her Senior 6 holiday. She went on to serve as a back-up vocalist to another female musician from Uganda, Halima Namakula, who then became her mentor in the showbiz and music business.

She continued on the journey of her professional music career in Gagamel with the recording band of Bebe Cool where she was a back-up singer for Ugandan musician Bebe Cool.

Bebe Cool watched television in 2013 when he first saw Rema speak about releasing a solo album that Bebe Cool wasn’t aware of.

So he sacked her and she was solo. Same year Rema went ahead to release a song written by Nince Henry titled “Oli Wange,” and that marks the beginning of her popularity in Uganda music frontal.

In the fourth season of Coke Studio Africa in 2016, Rema Namakula was chosen to represent Uganda. Lydia Jazmine, Eddy Kenzo, Radio and Weasel were also among other selected Ugandan recording artists.

Other notable attendees invited to the strictly-by-invitation event included 2Baba (2Face Idibia) from Nigeria and Trey Songz from the United States.
