Kunle Afolayan’s Family: Parents, Siblings

He is the son of famous film director, actor, and producer, late Adeyemi Afolayan aka Adelove.
He has two brothers ( Aremu Afolayan and Gabriel Afolayan) and a sister ( Moji Afolayan).

His father Ade Love is a well-applauded film and theater director.

Kunle studied economics at the university and began his career in a bank while doing a casual job in the movie industry.

Early life

Kunle Afolayan hails from Igbomina-Yoruba descent in Kwara State, and was born on the 30th of September, 1974 in Ebutemetta Lagos.

Education

Kunle earned a degree in economics and a diploma in digital film marketing at the New York film academy in 2005.

Kunle Afolayan acting career

Kunle Afolayan delved into the movie industry after doing a part-time job as a banker. He came into limelight in 2005 after quitting his banking Job to fully join the movie industry.

He then began working as a banking professor and decided to take a full time filming course in the United States at the New York Film Academy. He has worked in the Nigerian cinema industry since 2005 and has produced and directed many films in Nigeria.

In that same year, Kunle launched his production company named ‘the Golden effect pictures’
In 2011 the award-winning actor appeared at the Subversive film festival where he represented Nigeria.

His movie ‘phone swap’ premiered in France won the public choice award at the first edition of Nollywood week in Paris.

The release of his blockbuster movie ‘October 1’ made him the producer of the second-highest-grossing Nigerian films of all time.

At the Subversive Film Festival in 2011 Kunle Afolayan, with his colleague Zeb Ejiro, was called up to represent the Nigerian (Nollywood) film industry, he also received on behalf of the industry in 2009 the Nollywood’s Global Award for being the second-biggest film industry in the world.

Golden effect pictures

Golden effect pictures is a movie production company that was inaugurated in 2005. The company focuses on film production, film consulting and editing.

The Golden effect pictures consist of two arms, the film content development unit (which specializes in film production, TV production, and documentary film making) and the post-production and equipment rental unit which specializes in renting out film cameras.

The post-production and equipment rental unit of Golden effect pictures is equipped with a modern film editing studio for producers, music directors, etc.

The company has produced hit movies since its inauguration in 2005 and they include, Irapada, the figurine, phone swap, October 1, The C.E.O, Omugwo, The tribunal, and Mokalik.
