Who is Halima Dangote?

The name ‘Dangote’ is a strong name to reckon with in Nigeria. Halima Dangote is the daughter of one of the richest businessmen in Nigeria. In this post, emphasis will be made on who she is, her parents, early life and upbringing, career, spouse and marriage and many more.

Halima Dangote is the second daughter of Nigerian billionaire, Aliko Dangote. Alhaji Aliko Dangote needs no formal introduction, he is the Chairman of the Dangote Group of Companies. Also, he is the wealthiest man in Nigeria and in the African continent.

His daughter, Halima was appointed as the group executive director of Dangote Industries Limited. Also, she is the trustee of the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which happens to be the philanthropic arm of the Dangote Group.

Previously, she served as the Executive Director of NASCON Allied Industries Plc, a subsidiary of DIL. NASCON is a manufacturer of salt, spices, and seasonings. However, she has not totally left NASCON, she serves as a non-executive director in the company.

Halima’s Early Life

Halima Dangote was born in Kano state, Nigeria to the family of Aliko Dangote. She is an entrepreneur, a businesswoman, and a philanthropist. She works as the executive director in the Dangote Group of Companies.

Halima’s Education

Halima’s early and elementary education is unknown, however, she schooled at the American Intercontinental University in London where he acquired a Bachelors’ Degree in Marketing in 2005. Also, she holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration from the Webster Business School in London in 2006.

Halima’s Career & Official Appointments

In 2007, Hajia Halima Dangote started her career with KPMG Professional Services in Lagos state. She worked as a Business Analyst and was responsible for improving the business performance, development of models and strategy for financial improvements, policy formation and implementation for the private and public sector clients of the company.

A year later, she joined DIL as a Management Trainee. She was competent in the job and was promoted to the role of Special Assistant to the Chief Executive/President. In 2011, Halima was appointed as the Managing Director/CEO of MHF Properties Ltd, Lagos, Nigeria.

In 2013, she was made the Executive Director of NASCON and in 2014, she became the Executive Director of DIL.

In November 2019, she was made the Executive Director of Dangote Industries Ltd. She still holds the position of the Executive Director of the company to this day.

As the group executive director of the company, she is responsible for enhancing customer experience, improving customer relationship management and increasing the long-term customer value of the Dangote Group.

Halima holds the office of the president of The Africa Center, New York. Additionally, she belongs to the Women Corporate Directors (WCD) and Endeavour, Nigeria.
