Tiwa Savage Biography, Career & Profile

Tiwa Savage is a musical artist, rapper, songwriter and actress of Nollywood movies. She has signed deals for recording and songwriting with certain record labels including Marvin Records (2012) and Sony / ATV Record label at the moment.

In June 2016, on her social media page, Savage announced a managing and publishing contract with Roc Nation. Her soothing voice and ability to integrate the Nigerian dialect gained considerable attention in many of her songs.

Tiwa Savage Age | Date of Birth

Tiwatope Savage was born in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria, on February 5, 1980. As her parent moved to the United Kingdom, she was 11 years old and then traveled to the United States. It gave her the chance to grow up and learn more about a diverse community.

Tiwa Savage Music Career

Her music appreciation began at a young age. Tiwa Savage was a player of the trombone instrument in the orchestra band of her school while she attended college. While she did not pick up music immediately after graduating from Kent University with a degree in Business Administration, she rarely stopped thinking one day of being a big star.

Savage began to work at Scotland’s Royal Bank. Yet she joined notable artists including Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli, etc. in musical practices and borrowed vocals to them on shows. She also played with artists such as 50 Cent ,  Eminem, The Black Eyed Peas, Destiny’s Child, and others on stage.

Savage registered at Berklee College of Music and earned a degree in professional music at 27 years old to support her love for the entertainment industry. According to her, she was motivated by the super young students ‘ drive and passion with which she attended classes.

Her appearance in the UK version of The X Factor was among all her media attention – that whilst she was still studying at the above school of music. She proceeded to the final 24, but in the final 12 she was disqualified. In the reminiscent of Savage’s experience, she said, “It’s been a really painful time.” Yet the crooner of “Kele Kele Love” continues to work diligently to its goals.

Sony / ATV Music Publishing reached a music contract with Tiwa Savage in 2009. For Babyface, Fantasia Barrino, Kat Deluna, Monica and Mýa, the contract reinforced her to write songs.

Yet Savage felt it was time to level up her career and storm the spotlight more than composing for many other music producers. There was no fatherland in her mind anywhere.

It was Savage’s main decision to move back to Nigeria, because in her heart, home is where greatest opportunity lies. It was a little bit of struggle to get into the ever buzzing Nigeria’s musical world. Savage had a lot of hurdles to deal with a male-dominated industry.

She once expressed that she was trying to discourage people close to her from staying in the country. Her debut stage performance was a massive flop. Because her song lacked the normal vernacular to which most Nigerians are used, Savage had to contend with another obstacle. Savage has made some changes to her lyrics, accents and indoctrinated her native tongue as one who is prone to corrections and adjustment. With her former manager and now ex-husband Tunji “Tee Billz” Balogun, she set up her own label company, 323 Entertainment.

In 2012, she became a member of Mavin Records through Don Jazzy in 2012 after having collaborated with the executive producer with the label she co-owns.
Her first single, “Kele Kele Love,” had become a huge hit after it was recorded in 2013, it topped the music chart of Nigeria. Then preceded her first most anticipated album, “Once Upon A Time,”.
