Pastor Matthew started the church in a school hall in North London in 1992 with just 11 members in the congregation, with time the membership of the church begins to grow and the ministry was relocated to Hackney Town Centre after purchasing an apartment at Mare Street. As the church grows the apartment becomes too small for the Gathering then the congregation was moved to a much larger building located at 57 Waterden Road.

Pastor Matthew has been a ministry for more than three decades is a dynamic teacher and preacher is also a prolific author unsuccessful leader,  he has authored more than 20 books. pastor Matthew has also bagged several international awards as a result of his outstanding humanitarian services to humanity.
