Tesla on Verge of Diversifying into Fast-food Business, to Burgeon Company Network

As typical of companies of its stature, Tesla is used to filing new sectors to grow its stock and reach new markets, however, its latest operation has come as quite a surprise. The manufacturer has just registered a trademark for what appears to be a catering service.

Both the classic Tesla lettering, the stylized version as well as the company logo could in future be used in connection with restaurants, pop-up restaurants, self-service restaurants and fast food outlets.

In 2017, Elon Musk and other executives of the company had already mentioned the idea. At the time, technical director, JB Straubel, detailed the company’s ambitions to transform charging stations into real rest areas, adding the possibility of lunch while the car also regains its fuel.

Now, according to the May 27 filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Tesla has filed three new trademarks in the categories “food services, pop-up food services, self-service food services, and food services. Take-out catering.”

At the moment, though, this request is pending review.

The Modern Gas Station

Full-fledged restaurants, eat-in and sleep-ins are very common sight in gas stations across the United States and Europe, tendering to the pending needs of customers as they await a refuel or, in this case, recharge.

However, in typical fashion, Elon Musk has taken this new conception to the extreme. In January 2018, the CEO of Tesla announced that he wanted to install an old – fashioned drive-in with roller skates, in one of the Superchargers in Los Angeles, California.

For the moment, neither Elon Musk’s idea, nor Tesla’s real restoration project has been validated, and it is expected to take some time for the company’s ambitions to have a chance to see the light of day.

In addition to having revolutionized the automotive industry, Tesla may become over the years a competitor to fast food chains present along the highways.

The current trademark application suggests that Tesla is now taking up the idea of in-house restaurants again and could implement it on a larger scale. When and in what form the company will enter the restaurant business remains open.

The opening of supercharger restaurants always seems plausible. After all, it is important to bridge a large amount of time in the course of charging electric cars. According to Techcrunch, Tesla itself has not responded to inquiries about any restaurant plans.

If Tesla and its technology should successfully diversify into the food business sector, table-serving robots and AI customer service, might not be too much of an expectation.
