Samsung starts stable rollout of Android 13 via One UI 5.0
Starting with the Galaxy S22, Samsung has released the stable version of One UI 5.0, the Android 13 version of the South Korean firm.
Android 13 was released in August, but several manufacturers have already implemented it in their customisation layers; Samsung becomes one of the first, with the release of One UI 5.0.
In one of the most ambitious upgrade plans we’ve seen, Samsung intends to update all of its high-end mobile devices by the end of the year, beginning with the Galaxy S22 family.
One IU 5.0 for S22 Galaxy
In fact, customers of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S2 +, and Galaxy S22 Ultra will be the first to get the upgrade; this is not a surprise, since these models could already install the beta version of the new operating system, but it is still fantastic news.
Importantly, only Galaxy S22s with the Exynos engine will get the update this week; the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 version will have to wait to obtain Android 13.
The update is now available in Italy, Spain, Norway, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, and is expected to reach the remainder of Europe over the next few days.
Integration made simpler for Beta users
If you were already using the beta version of the system, it is assumed that a modest update will be released to convert it to the stable version.
On the other hand, for the majority of users, this update requires downloading several gigabytes of updates.
Consequently, it is recommended that customers wait until they have a strong connection and sufficient time for the mobile to update.
Users may search for the updated version as usual by entering Settings and Software Update, where the mobile device will automatically search for the new version.
Functionalities of One UI 5
One UI 5.0 delivers a number of new features to Samsung mobile devices. First and foremost, it is built on Android 13, therefore users will experience a number of the benefits of the new operating system.
In addition, Samsung has included elements such as the new lock screen, which enables users to set a movie as a backdrop or place widgets similar to those on the iPhone.
Users also have access to the new Modes, which allow the mobile device to adapt to our activities, such as “Dream,” “Driving,” and “Exercise.”
On the home screen, the new widgets expand the space-saving potential of coupling them.
The design of One UI 5 is not much different from that of One UI 4. In this regard, there is little difference between Android 13 and Android 12. (the system versions on which the respective layers of Samsung are based).
One UI 5 closely resembles what Google built for its Pixel smartphones, where privacy becomes even more crucial and security stays paramount. Samsung Knox provides a variety of options for ensuring the phone’s security.
The majority of the new features are aesthetic and may be found inside the code. A couple of these can significantly improve the Samsung Galaxy experience.
More customization options in Material You Samsung has incorporated the customisation enhancements offered by Google in Android 13
Now, not only is it possible to pick colour palettes depending on the installed wallpaper (up to 16), but the user now has access to 12 colour groups that may be chosen regardless of the wallpaper.
- Simply pinch the desktop and choose “Wallpaper and style” to activate this feature.
- One UI 5 adds the ‘Basic Colors’ option to the ‘Color Palettes’ menu.
- These colour groupings are distinct from the wallpaper.
Identical-sized widgets that are stacked
One UI 4 added “Smart Widgets,” three floating components on the desktop that allowed the grouping of various widgets. With One UI 5, Samsung has expanded this option to any widget.
Once the phone has been updated, Samsung Galaxy customers will be able to stack widgets by sliding them on top of one another. Obviously, the least size must be 2×1, since 1×1 dimensions are insufficient.
Alterations to manual photography
Samsung enhances its picture and video Pro camera applications with a new icon that explains how to make the most of the apps.
In addition, the zoom option has been enhanced to make its manipulation much more pleasant while shooting images with one hand.
New examination of security and privacy
One UI 5 includes a new tool under the security and privacy settings for a quick assessment of the Samsung Galaxy’s security and privacy.
The programme analyses whether or not all security choices, given rights, and recent accesses are active and provides remedies to any found issues.
Extensive WiFi network details
With the upgrade to One UI 5, Samsung Galaxy acquired a new Intelligent Wi-Fi option under wireless settings.
These parameters previously exist in One UI 4’s advanced settings, but the new version of the layer makes them more useful.
And they give a secret menu of developers with further information, as Android Police uncovered.
After 10 clicks on the “Intelligent Wi-Fi” menu, the new developer options provide a vast quantity of wireless connection-related data.
With this information, it is possible to identify the optimal router configuration options, allowing WiFi connection to be enhanced without the need to download additional programmes.
