Mayorkun Biography

Mayorkun was born on the 23rd day of March 1994, in Osun State, Nigeria.

He happens to be the first child of Adewale’s family accompanied by two other siblings.

Mayorkun’s father, late Sunday Adewale, was a music artist and movie producer while Mayorkun’s Mother, Toyin Adewale, is a popular Nollywood actress.

Mayorkun grew up in his hometown where he had his primary and secondary education.

While at a youthful age, Mayorkun was a member of his church choir team and was as well, one of the brightest then.

Mayorkun after completing his secondary education moved to Lagos where he had studied his tertiary education at the University of Lagos, Yaba.

He enrolled in the school as an accounting student and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Mayorkun Career

Mayorkun after graduating from the university started working in an organization where was paid very lowly.

He got spotted by the DMW boss, Davido, in a piano cover he made for one of Davido’s songs titled “the money”.

Mayorkun before then wasn’t doing music as a professional career, though he already had a series of songs he had written before then.

This day Mayorkun got called by the DMW boss was the same day he dropped his resignation letter at the place he was working.

In April 2016, Mayorkun released his first debut studio song in the DMW record label which was titled Eleko.

The song went so viral across the country and video hit over 10 million streams on YouTube within 10 days after its release.

Mayorkun kept releasing good songs in the music industry some of which are Yawa, Sade, Che Che, Mama, Back 2 Back, Love you tire, and many more.

On the 16th day of November 2018, Mayorkun released his first debut studio album titled “The Mayor Of Lagos’.

The album comprised of 14 tracks was reported to get listed on the Billboard world album chart in less than a month after it was released and was able to reach the top 15.

Mayorkun started a tour for his album, The Mayor Of Lagos (TMOL) in 2017 and went to perform in over 37 different schools. Afterwhich the main concert was done at the Eko Atlantic City Hotel in December 2017.

The concert was a great success and now holds every year in Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, and other parts of the country.

In 2019, Mayorkun featured the Flyboy, inc. boss Kizz Daniel, in one of his award-winning songs. The song was titled which was titled “True”.

Mayorkun is currently signed to the DMW Record Label; alongside others like Peruzzi and Dremo.
