Naira Marley Biography

Naira Marley was born on May 9, 1994, in Agege, Lagos State.

Naira Marley had his primary school education in his hometown before moving to the UK where he had started his high school education at the Porlock Hall School in Peckham, South London.

Later, he moved to Walworth School in Newton where he had obtained his high school leaving certificate.

Naira Marley started his tertiary education at the Peckham Academy where he studied business and had a distinction upon graduation.

From there, he also went to Crossways College (now Christ the King Sixth Form College), where he studied had obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Law.

Naira Marley Career

Since a very youthful age, Naira Marley had started making moves to become an MC (Master of Ceremony), and also was also working as a voice-over artist.

In 2014, Naira Marley was able to discover that the kind of passion he has for music is extremely extraordinary, and with that kind of passion, it will indeed take him a great height in the music industry. He was encouraged by his close peer to go after his music career.

Naira Marley released his first debut studio track in 2015, where Max Twigz was found featured, and he titled the song “Marry Juana”.

Later that year, Naira Marley took to the studio to record his first debut studio album which he titled Dance which he released also in 2015.

Naira Marley kept on working on his music career and in December 2017, Naira Marley dropped his major hit song which went so viral within the country.

The song was titled “Issa Goal” and featured YBNL boss, Olamide, and Lil Kesh.

The song was remixed by Naira Marley in collaboration with Olamide, Lil Kesh, Simi, Falz, and Slimcase and was used alongside Olamide and Phyno’s “Dem go hear am” as the official theme song for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA world cup, Russia.

On the 3rd day of May 2019, a few days after Naira Marley had dropped the EP video of the song “Am I A Yahoo Boy”, Naira Marley released the official song in collaboration with Zlatan Ibile.

The song was produced by the popular afro genre beatmaker, Rexxie.

A few hours later, after the song has been dropped, Naira Marley, was arrested by EFCC, alongside Zlatan Ibile and three others.

Zlatan and the other three were released three days after the incident but Naira Marley, who was charged with 11 different offenses including internet fraud.

Three weeks after Naira Maley’s arrest, he pleaded not been guilty at the Federal High Court and a bail hearing was set for him on the 30th day of May 2019.

Naira Marley was later then released from jail on the 14th day of June 2019 after he had been granted a bail of 2 million naira and he released another music track that day which he titled “Why”.

On December 18, 2019, Naira Marley released his second studio debut album which was titled Lol Of Lamba (LOL).

The album featured the guest work of Mayorkun, Cblvck, and Young John. And was produced by Killertunes, Rexxie, and Studio Magic.

Naira Marley is the founder and CEO of the Nigerian based music record label, Marlian Records.

The release of the label was first announced on the 30th day of December 2019, during the first “Marlian Fest” concert-show which took place at the Eko Hotels and Suites, Lagos State, Nigeria.

Once that same day, was when Zinoleesky, Mohbad, Cblack, and Fabian, were also signed into the record label.

After then, other artists like Lyta, have also been signed into the Marlian Music record label.
