Thousands of Instagram accounts suspended as another Meta network crashes

Thousands of Instagram accounts suspended 1 weeks after WhatsApp crash

Thousands of Instagram users have complained that their accounts have been suspended without prior notification or apparent cause.

These complaints corresponded with a discernible decrease in the number of followers of some business pages.

As usual, these Instagram issues have spread to other social networks, with Insta becoming one of the hot topics on Twitter, which Elon Musk just purchased.

“We suspended your account on October 31, 2022. There are 30 days remaining to disagree with this decision”, may be read in the alerts that users get.

The notices specify that the temporary closure of the accounts is due to the user’s violation of the community’s rules.

In addition, it is stated that if Instagram is unable to validate the account in a month’s time, it would be deactivated completely and no one will be able to access or use it.

In addition, since 2:00 p.m., Downdetector, a service that monitors occurrences, has seen a dramatic surge in Instagram-related alerts, which have surpassed 3,000 concurrently.

According to this platform, unsuccessful login attempts accounted for 74% of all reported issues, followed by application starting (16%) and loading (10%).

The deluge of individuals demanding information on the suspension of their profile has forced the Instagram website that normally handles these issues to breakdown, confirming inferentially that this suspension affects thousands of users.

Instagram aware and investigating

More than an hour after the difficulties were initially reported, Instagram verified them through Twitter to communicate a message of calm.

The crash occurs less than a week after another Meta flagship application, WhatsApp, collapsed on Tuesday, affecting billions of users.

Recall that in October 2021, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Meta’s flagship Facebook were taken down for several hours owing to a coordination difficulty between its multiple data storage centres.

How to retrieve a lost Instagram account

It is currently uncertain how long this issue will remain or if the suspended accounts will be restored within the following several hours.

As Instagram has already acknowledged the issue, it is advisable to wait for the platform to disclose more information on what transpired and if people impacted to take extra steps.

The notification provided to those whose accounts have been disabled explains that they have 30 days to appeal the decision.

As this is a social network failure and not an actual suspension, it is doubtful that completing the processes to review the decision would provide favourable outcomes. In truth, the situation may be considerably worse.

Users have claimed that after activating the aforementioned button, they are no longer able to log in to their accounts.

I tried to appeal my decision, it logged me out and now this appears when I try to log in?” said @immystone in a now deleted tweet.

Regarding the number of followers, you can never do too much. When suspended accounts are reactivated, the number of Instagram followers will likely revert to normal.
