WhatsApp operational again after a two-hour global outage

The instant messaging programme, WhatsApp, has been experiencing global outages for almost two hours for unclear reasons.The Downdetector page started reporting events. 

The software began functioning at 11 p.m., as shown by real-time monitoring websites of the major social networks, telephone services, and internet services.

Already, Downdetector displays a considerable decline in the number of occurrences reported by users and hundreds of contacts about the recovery of the service.

The majority of users can now send and receive messages, as well as confirm by the double blue “tick” that their messages have been read.

WhatsApp and Meta have not yet commented on the reasons for the failure, and many users have turned to alternatives such as the Telegram messaging service and iMessage, both of which have proven popular on the Twitter social network.

The WhatsApp programme, which has approximately two billion users worldwide, enables you to send and receive messages through the Internet. As a result, it has in many instances replaced and supplanted established services such as SMS.

Hundreds of users on other social networks, such as Twitter, have echoed the downtime and created several memes.

The majority of events reported by users and logged by Downdetector were difficulty delivering messages (75 percent), regular application functionality (19 percent), and issues with the program’s website (6%).

What causes Whatsapp crashes?

It is not the first time this has occurred, nor will it be the last. As one of the most popular applications in the world, its systems must handle a very high load, which occasionally causes the platform to collapse.

The corporation has yet to provide an explanation for what transpired, but it seems that something very significant occurred, since it was not until after 11:00 (WAT) that the systems resumed operation.
