Rema was born into the family of Ikubor on 1st day of May 2000, in Benin City, Edo state as the second child of the family with an elder brother.

Rema from a very young age had started developing his passion and love for music as a career and while he was in secondary school, he established a music band with his friend Alpha P, which was named RnA.

The name was derived from the first letter of their names and they performed at schools, churches, and many other events in the country.

Rema was discovered by D’prince to be a very good and talented singer after a freestyle he had made for the boss of the Jozing record.

D’prince signed Rema into his record label, Jozing, and kept catering for the young talented artiste’s needs while Rema served the label by writing and singing good songs.

Don Jazzy signed Rema into the Mavins Record music record label and that was when his story changed. Don Jazzy rebranded Rema by changing his stage name from Rhema which he had been previously using to Rema.
