She was born into a family of seven as the fourth child of the family.

Mercy Johnson left her hometown to Calabar to study her basic education but later went back to Lagos State to join her father at the Nigerian Navy Primary School which was located in her father’s barrack since he was a Navy.

Mercy Johnson had her secondary education in Portharcourt, Rivers State at the Rivers State Secondary School before getting a transfer to the Nigerian Navy Secondary School.

Mercy Johnson after a failed attempt to enter into the university due to low grade decided to go into acting.

The discovery of her huge talent was what made her chose to be an actress and she has been doing quite well.

She started as a casual one-three scenes actress and the first movie she acted was “The Maid”, where she played the role of a babysitter.

Now, she has participated in a hundreds of movies in the Nollywood.

Apart from being a Nollywood actress, Mercy Johnson also acts in other countries and she has been seen in a number of Hollywood movies.

She was banned from participating in the Nollywood in November 2013.

This was as a result of the complaints made by filmmakers that she always demand high pays to participate in movies.

The ban was lifted following an apology she made in March 2014.
