The young music artiste was born in Lagos into the family of Akinfenwa-Donus emerging as the second son of the family. Joeboy’s father was a keyboardist in the church he attended while his elder brother as well, was a member of the choir team.

Joeboy grew up and spent his youthful life in Lagos, where he also had his primary and secondary education before attending the University of Lagos (UNILAG) where had gotten a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource.

Joeboy during his days as a teenager had always hung out in the studio with Legends in the Nigerians music industry; the likes of 9ice and ID Cabasa, and they were said by Joeboy to have inspired him into his music career.

Joeboy started singing at the age of 16 and he released his first debut studio track a year after, at the age of 17 which was titled “Gbeseyin”.

Not so long later, Joeboy took to his Instagram page to upload the cover of Ed Sheeran’s Shape of you which made him get recognized by a lot of people on Instagram including the popular Afro singer, Mr. Eazi.

At that point in time Mr. Eazi saw the cover made by Joeboy, he admired the young singer’s talent and decided to sign him to his record label, Banku Music.

Joeboy since then have been doing quite a lot of great music and in 2019, he released his hit song “Baby” which went so viral within and outside the country.

On November 8, 2019, he released his second debut studio album which was titled “Love and light” and contained 5 tracks which are; baby, beginning, don’t call me back, all for you, and blessings.

So far in 2020, Joeboy was featured in a song made by DJ Neptune titled Nobody and he sang alongside his boss, Mr. Eazi.
