Onion juice
This is the oldest and the most effective home remedy for hair growth.
Why:
Onion juice is rich in sulphur that boosts collagen production in the tissues and helps in the re-growth of hair & helps in minimize breakage and thinning. It is also rich in antibacterial and antifungal properties which helps to fight infections of the scalp.
How to use:
- Peel the onions or shallots.
- Chop it into small pieces.
- Squeeze out its juice.
- Now apply it on your scalp carefully and keeps for 15 minutes.
- Finally, rinse off with a mild shampoo.
- Try this once a week for 2 months to see some visible difference.
Apple cider vinegar
The vinegar gently cleanses the scalp and maintains the ph balance of the hair accelerating hair growth.

The Acetic acid in apple cider vinegar is a potent antimicrobial which can kill bacteria and fungus underlying causes of dandruff and hair loss.
How to use:
- Wash your hair.
- Mix one cup of water with two to four tablespoons of vinegar to rinse.
- Use apple cider vinegar as a final rinse after washing your hair to get healthy and shiny hair.
- For dry hair–mix 2 tablespoons of apple vinegar cider to one cup of water.
- For Oily hair or dandruff-mix 3-4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to one cup of water.
- after washing your hair, using this cup of water as the final rinse.
- Repeat this process once or twice in a month
Egg Mask:
This home remedy is found to be a part of the many cultures all over the world with different variations. Hair is made up of keratin protein and eggs are a great source of protein. Thus, they are highly beneficial in helping your hair grow.
Why:
It contains high levels of proteins which help in the formation of new hair.it is also rich in sulphur, zinc, iron, selenium, phosphorous and iodine.
How to use:
- Take the white of one egg.
- Add 1 teaspoon of olive oil and honey to it.
- Mix it all well to form a smooth paste.
- Apply it all over your hair carefully and leave it for 20 minutes.
- Rinse with cool water and shampoo it off.
Castor Oil:
One of the most effective home remedies for dry scalp, hair thinning, split ends and hair loss, castor oil is widely used for decades in various beauty treatments. castor oil works as a magic potion for your hair.
Why :
Castor oil facilitates hair growth because it is rich in omega-9 fatty acids and vitamin E. The thick oil moisturizes your hair, adds volume, prevents frizzing, and also fights scalp infections.
How to use:
- It is best to mix castor oil with an equal amount of a base oil or you may mix it with 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 or 2 tablespoons of lemon to get a better consistency and enhance the benefits.
- Rub it on your scalp and massage.
- Leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes or ideally overnight for maximum benefits.
- Afterwards, rinse it out and shampoo your hair.
- Repeat it once or twice a week.
Lemon Juice:
lemon juice promotes smooth, shiny, dandruff-free hair apart from hair growth. When applied on the scalp, it stimulates circulation and hence prevents hair loss. Do not use lemon juice in excess though, as it can lighten your hair color over time.
Why:
Lemons are rich in vitamin C and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, folic acid, and other nutrients. Plus, they are loaded with antioxidants.
How to use:
- Mix one part lemon juice and two parts of coconut or olive oil.
- Apply it to your hair and scalp and leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes.
- Wash it out and then shampoo your hair with a mild shampoo.
- Repeat once or twice a week.
