Stretch marks has never been a serious health-issue as it’s just a tear that occurs deep in the deep layer of the skin. Stretch marks are common, these purple, pink or red stripes may appear on your abdomen, buttocks, thighs, and breasts due to rapid weight gain and increased muscle mass which leads to collagen break down.
Naturally, stretch makes do fade on their own (overtime), but the facts still remains that there isn’t any approved treatment to completely fade away stretch marks for good☹️. Therefore, in this article, I’m going to detail out the recipe to formulate a DIY stretch marks cream to minimize the appearance and texture of stretch marks, but before we dive into that, let’s know more about stretch marks.

Stretch marks are also known as striae, it occures when the skin rapidly changes shape due to growth or weight gain. This scar develops when the skin is stretched, and they aren’t a sign that something is wrong with your health.
Stretch marks appears in a red or purple line on the skin takes different textures around the skin. Although some Stretch marks fades on their own taking a lighter shade.
So…., What Really Causes Stretch Marks?
Some certain factors can aggravate the occurrence of stretch marks and they include:
Pregnancy: You’re likely going to have Stretch marks when you gain rapid weight. When pregnancy occurs, the skin around the stomach starts to expand thereby making the body grow faster than your skin which causes the elastic fibers just under the surface of the skin to break, resulting in stretch marks.
Puberty: Stretch marks normally occurs to both boys and girls during puberty, when an individual gains weight very quickly which causes the skin to stretch, and can result to occurrence of stretch marks.
Cortisone Creams: Using skincare products, such as gels, lotions, ointments, and creams that Contains steroids on you skin for a longer-period of time can trigger stretch marks. This is because steroids break down connective tissue in the skin.

Any Remedy For Stretch Marks?
As meantioned above, their isn’t any approved treatment that can completely fade stretch marks, but its appearance can be minimized. A research study has found Hyaluronic acid and Tretinion effective in drastically reducing the appearance and texture of stretch marks, by stimulating collagen production and retaining moisture into the skin pores.
Asides that, some home remedies has also proven to help with stretch marks appearance by inducing collagen production, promoting cell regeneration, keeping the skin moisturized and maintaining healthy blood flow. These home remedies are:
Sheabutter.
As a byproduct of shea nuts sheabutter is richly blessed with Vitamin A and essential fatty acids. Vitamin A (Retinoid) helps the skin to become more supple as it stimulate collagen production and encourages cell regeneration which in turn plumps and firms the skin making it look supple. As the result of this, stretch marks are visibility minimized.
Also because of its richness in essential fatty acids sheabutter offers optimum hydration to the skin, which also helps fasten the healing process.
Raw Cocoa Butter.
Cocoa Butter is incredibly rich in vitamins A, E, and stearic acid. It absorbs not only into the epidermis layer of the skin (top layer) but the dermis as well (middle layer.)
Cocoa butter has been helpful in treating stretch marks during pregnancy as it helps visibly improve skin elasticity by inducing collagen production and encourages massive cell turnover which in turn smoothens and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
Coconut oil has been beneficial to the skin because of its skin moisturizing properties plus it contains vitamins like Vitamin E, which heals the dermis, strengthens the cell wall, nourishes the damaged skin and Vitamin K that removes the damaged and dead cells. Coconut oil’s fatty acids easily absorb into the skin. It’s also anti-inflammatory and encourages collagen production, which will speed up stretch mark recovery.

Sweet Almond Oil.
Almond oil is one of the most effective natural remedy in controlling stretch marks. This oil is an excellent lubricant and beneficial for skin, it richly contains Vitamin E, mono saturated fatty acids, proteins, Zinc and potassium, which makes it very potential for restoring damaged skin fibre, improving the skin structure, binding the collagen and elastin fibre.
Castor Oil.
Castor oil offers deep moisturization to the skin which smoothens the skin top layer and in turn not only address the issue of stretch marks but also helps smoothens off wrinkles and fine lines. When applied on the skin, castor oil provides your skin with intense moisture, which helps minimizes stretch marks appearance.
Rosehip Seed Oil.
Rosehip oil is also known as rosehip seed oil. It is derived from the rosa canina rose bush. This seed oil is abundantly blessed with rich unsaturated fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins such as vitamin A, C, & E.
Vitamin A being a collagen stimulator which is abundant in rosehip oil help minimizes the appearance of not only stretch marks but wrinkles and fine lines by accelerating collagen production and massively encouraging cell turnover and regeneration which promotes skin elasticity and firmness.
Vitamin E oil.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant known for its anti-aging and skin regenerating benefits. It’s often used to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars, as it rejuvenates and moisturizes the skin which can give stretch marks a boost.
Vitamin E can be found in olive oil, coconut oil, sheabutter, rosehip seed oil, cocoa butterl and sweet almond oil so if you don’t have access to vitamin E oil or capsules don’t bother yourself.
Lavender Essential Oil.
Asides having a pleasant aromatic scent, lavender oil is also best known for its calming effect which addresses the issue of skin Inflammatory conditions. It increases the production of collagen and forms new connective tissue that encourages wound healing.

The combination of all the above meantioned Ingredients will do a great job to drastically reduce the appearance of stretch marks including wrinkles and fine lines.
Ingredients Needed
- ½ Cup Sheabutter.
- ½ Cup Raw Cocoa Butter.
- 10 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.
- 5 Tablespoons Almond Oil.
- 5 Tablespoons Castor Oil.
- 5 Tablespoons Rosehip Seed Oil.
- 2 Teaspoons Vitamin E oil.
- 10 drops Lavender Essential Oil.
Method 1. How To Make A DIY Stretch Marks Cream.
- Step 1: Get a clean mixing bowl.
- Step 2: Mix in all the ingredients in accordance to measurements stated above.
- Step 3: Using an electric blender stir the mixture thoroughly to form a rich-fluffy consistency.
- Step 4: Store mixure in a clean container with a tight lid.
Method 2. DIY Stretch Marks Cream.
- Step 1: In a stainless steel bowl add your Cocoa butter and sheabutter.
- Step 2: Melt them down over a low heat (stove or electric gas).
Note: Ensure the heat is low.
- Step 3: Allow mixture to cool down alittle, before adding other ingredients (in accordance to measurements stated above)
- Step 4: Using an electric blender stir the mixture thoroughly to form a rich-fluffy texture.
- Step 5: Store in a clean container with a tight lid.
How To Apply Your DIY Stretch Marks Cream.
- Step 1: Wash the affected area with a moisture-rich moisturizing soap
- Step 2: Massage the mixture over the affected area for 10 minutes.
Reapply treatment twice a day (AM & PM) for optimum result.
