Current NYSC Allowance for all States In Nigeria 2023

This article contains the updated NYSC allowance for all States in Nigeria.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) is a one-year program in Nigeria that involves the deployment of graduates to different parts of the country for national service. During this period, corps members are entitled to receive a monthly allowance from the Nigerian government.

As of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021, the monthly allowance for NYSC members was N19,800 (nineteen thousand, eight hundred naira) per month. However, it’s important to note that the government can review this amount periodically, so it’s always advisable to verify the current allowance amount from official sources.

The NYSC allowance is meant to assist corps members in meeting their basic needs during the service year. While the allowance may not be substantial, it is intended to supplement other resources and support corps members in their service to the nation. It’s important to manage the allowance wisely to cover essential expenses such as accommodation, feeding, transportation, and personal needs.

It’s worth mentioning that in addition to the monthly allowance, corps members may also be eligible for other benefits, such as the transportation allowance, which is given at the beginning and end of the service year to cover the cost of transportation to and from their places of primary assignment.

Furthermore, some states or organizations may provide additional support to corps members. These support systems can range from increased allowances to accommodation provisions or even employment opportunities after the service year. The availability and extent of these additional benefits can vary depending on the state and organization.

It is well known that every Nigerian graduate must undergo a one-year compulsory National Youth Service program through National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or get an exemption certificate before they can fully be certified to work anywhere they choose in the country.

Of course, during the application for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) where one is given the opportunity to choose their preferred states, everyone wants to choose a state that will pay them some extra allowance aside from the general NGN33,000 paid by the Federal Government.

Even after receiving the posting letters, every prospective corps member wants to be sure that they were posted to a state that will pay them extra cash, everybody loves something good!

This article will certainly help you in making the right choices for a good state to serve in and boost your morale when you are finally posted.

Most government-owned organizations like government schools, ministries, etc, do not pay corps members any extra money aside from their federal and state allowance.

Private sectors on the other hand usually pay their corps members a little allowance depending on their negotiation with the CEOs of the organization.

That is why most serious corps members want to work with private sectors where they can earn some money and possibly be retained at the end of their service year.
