LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY (LASU)
Lagos State University which is also known as LASU was founded in the year 1983 by the enabling law of Lagos State of Nigeria. It is the only State University in the former British colony. The school currently has nine academic faculties.
The institution tuition fee can be afforded by average class individuals. Being a State University, LASU does not have specific religion and culture and that is why people from different places can be admitted into the school.

AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY (AAU)
Ambrose Alli University was established in 1981 by the former governor of the old Bendel State which is now known as Edo and Delta State, Professor Ambrose Folorunsho Alli. As such, it is a state-owned university.
It is located in the large town of Ekpoma in Edo State. It is a co-educational institution.l in the sense that it both male and female are accepted into the school. Their tuition fee is affordable for an average citizen. They have notable alumni such as Don Jazzy, Aisha Buhari, Genevieve Nnaji and so many others.
AAU is currently ranked as the second-best state university in Nigeria 2021. National Universities Commission accredited the institution for its best facilities for learning and research. When you discuss about a school full of experience, you mention Ambrose Alli University.
OLABISI OBASANJO UNIVERSITY (OOU)
Olabisi Obasanjo University was founded on 7th July, 1982 as Ogun State University. It was renamed Olabisi Obasanjo University on 29th May, 2007 in honor of Chief Olabisi Obasanjo.
The schools is located in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. OOU has multiple campuses where the main one is located at Ago-Iwoye. The University has 10 faculties with 56 departments. This State University ranks 59 as the best university in Nigeria and in the world, it ranks 6251.
DELTA STATE UNIVERSITY (DELSU)
Delta State University, Abraka popularly called DELSU was founded on 27th August, 1991 during the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida. It was established under the old Bendel State as a College of Education. However, the school awarded the National Certificate of Education (NCE) from 1972 to 1985
Today,Delta State University is popularly known for its good medical school and health-related subjects like nursing, physical education, teaching and coaching, family and consumer sciences/human sciences.
Moreso, DELSU earned accreditation status in law program from NUC. Delta State University is ranked 54th out of 464 colleges and universities in Nigeria, for their provision of values to their students.

RIVER STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (RSUST)
Rivers State University of Science and Technology was created in 1980 from the River State College of Science and Technology which itself was established in 1972. It is the first technological university in Nigeria and it is the first to be located in Niger Delta region.
RSUST is located at Nkpolu-Oroworukwo in Port-Harcourt. The University has a staff population of 1870 and student population of 29, 939. The University is in the 16th position as the best out of 80 universities in Nigeria. The school has seven faculties and five institutes. It has three centers and runs 37 programmes at the undergraduate level and 86 at the postgraduate level.
PLATEAU STATE UNIVERSITY (PLASU)
Plateau State University located in Bokkos is popularly known as PLASU. The school was established in the year 2005. In 2016, all the 17 programmes done at the University was accredited by National Universities Commission (NUC).
Moreover, these 17 course are spread over 4 faculties in the school: Faculties of Arts, Social Sciences , Management Sciences and Natural and Applied Science. PLASU ranks 114 on the scale of the best universities in Nigeria while it is yet on 11017 in the global scale.
ENUGU STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (ESUT)
Enugu State University of Science and Technology was founded on July 30, 1980 by Jim Nwobodo as Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH). The present-day Enugu State University (ESUT) is the first State-owned university in Nigeria.
The school also had its first state-funded teaching hospital in Nnewi in the present-day Anambra State. However, there are 9 faculties in the school which cut across Engineering, sciences, arts and humanities, social sciences and management sciences.
ESUT is officially accredited by the NUC and it has produced notable people in the society today. Such notable alumni are Dave Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, Blossom Chukwujekwu, Nkiru Sylvanus, Sam Egwu the former governor of Ebonyi State, Osita Iheme and so many other people.
ESUT recently was rewarded by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCOMB) with 600,000 naira for coming first in a nationwide tertiary institution competition.
EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY, ADO EKITI (EKSU)
Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti is known for short as EKSU was founded as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ado Ekiti on 30th March 1982. The institution is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Just as others, it is a non-profit public higher education institution located in Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State. It was officially recognized by NUC. In. Nigeria, Ekiti State University ranks 28 while on the global scale, it is on the 6299th position.
CHUKWUEMEKA ODUMEGWU OJUKWU UNIVERSITY (COOU)
Named after the Biafran warlord, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, formerly known as Anambra State University is also considered to be one of the best State universities in Nigeria. It was established on November 13, 2000, and it currently has two campuses:
The main campus is at Uli while the other is at Igbarium. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu as it is recently called ranks 45th position among the Nigerian universities and 7772 globally.
The University is a public university, however, and it offers different programmes that cut across environmental sciences, engineering, health sciences, Agriculture, social sciences and so on.
ONDO STATE UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (OSUSTECH)
Ondo State University of Science and Technology also known as OSUSTECH was established in 2008. It is located in the large town of Okitipupa, Ondo State. Today, the school has been renamed to Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology.
As a State-owned university, it is a non-profit public higher Education Institution. OSUSTECH only offer courses in Agriculture, Science and Engineering. The university is ranked 85th position in the country and 9508 in the world.
