Stan Lee was born on December 28, 1922, in New York City. He was the brain behind most of Marvel Comics’ characters including Spider-Man, Iron Man and The X-Men.

In collaboration with artists like Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and John Romita Sr., he helped create new heroes; some have been adapted into blockbuster movies and TV shows.

Lee also helped to make many of the comic books more sophisticated, adding personal problems like money woes or marital strife; his heroes were not always perfect people which made them much easier for readers to identify with their flaws.

Stan Lee passed away on November 12 at 95 years old in Los Angeles from a blood clot.

He helped create new heroes; some have been adapted into films that have grossed $30 billion worldwide.
