1. Kansas State
Kansas State is an agricultural continent in the United States, where there are mostly natural scenery and the most simple farmers. In a word: the mountains and rivers are so boring. It might be one of the ugliest states in America but if you want to relax, this is one of the most worthwhile places to go.
2. Indiana
Indiana State is a very artistic place and with Brown County adjacent to the rolling mountains. This is a hilly city where backpacking and hiking is excellent. You can see Lake Michigan in Dunes National Lakeshore, and other beautiful scenery.
Yet this is one of the ugliest states to drive through, for example, when you drive, the corn fields on both sides of the road can make you want to sleep in minutes.
3. Illinois
Fortunately, there is beauty in Chicago which mitigates the “ugliest” tag of Illinois as a whole. In addition to the prosperous city of Chicago, Illinois boasts various sports beasts:
- American football has the Chicago Bears of the NFL,
- baseball has the Chicago Cubs of the MLB, and
- basketball has the Chicago Bulls of the NBA.
Of course, this state offers a breathtaking view of the Lake Michigan but it’s one of the least prettiest in the US.
4. Iowa
If you ask me what is particularly interesting about Iowa…?
… Well the sunset here is not bad…
5. Louisiana
The best thing about Louisiana is the crawfish. The state also boasts New Orleans, which many do not know is located in the city.
Despite being one of the ugliest states in the US, this is also a place highly recommended by many travellers. Louisiana is popular for the beautiful scenery and good folk customs.
The fishing here is good, and there is also a world-class duck hunting activity.
6. Connecticut
There is Mark Twain’s home and the first burger restaurant in the United States , but the most famous attraction of Connecticut is the state song “Yankee Song.” It is said that this song was used to win the independence war.
But for tourism… there are some quaint towns along the coast and Berkshires that are worth visiting.
7. Oklahoma
As it is a must to pass through this state to Mexico, there are many old inns here. The weather is unpredictable and there are occasional tornadoes. Some residents joke that the scenery here is very suitable for reading Larry McMurtry’s text.
8. Mississippi
I believe that Mississippi is so ugly that the people of the state would remark about their city: “God, horses and ghosts… how are we are not ranked in the last 5?”
9. Ohio
Basically, people agree that Ohio is boring, but there are so many beautiful attractions here.
Young ones can go to Lake Erie as well as the Ohio Trail on the shore of the lake. There is an intriguing place here that epitomizes and justifies Ohio’s reputation as one of the least prettiest states in the US.
That place is Berlin, Ohio (not in Germany), where there is a group of Amish People who refuse to use cars and electrical appliances, and usually live in horse-drawn carriages. Those who like 18th century Christianity can check it out.
10. New Jersey
New Jersey, ugliest state. This American state is synonymous with the word ugly.
Nonetheless, there is a super beautiful Delaware Water Gap, which belongs to the National Park Service. Generally speaking, it can be regarded as a national park.
Surrounded by mountains and rivers, it is the best place to experience nature. It is said that the gangs in New Jersey are very powerful, but because of this, New Jersey is relatively safe.
