Almond oil: In the DIY skincare world, almond oil is one of my favourites, this emollient is rich is fatty acids to nourish and hydrates the skin. It has been used for centuries to relieve dry skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis.
Almond oil also helps glows the skin as it deeply nourishes the skin dermis and smoothens the top layer of the skin which sparks up a beautiful glow.
Carrot oil: If you’re looking for a natural oil to brighten dull skin and enhance skin radiance then you’ll never go wrong with carrot oil. Suitable for both sensitive and matured skin. Carrot oil glows and nourishes the skin, it evens the skin tone for a brighter-looking skin — all thanks to Beta-carotene, vitamin A, C and E. This antioxidants also protects the skin from environmental aggressors and UV rays of the skin.
Organic Honey: A humectant which attracts moisture from the atmosphere and pull them into the skin to keep skin supple and intensively hydrated. A well hydrated skin is a happy skin, this will boost radiance and glow. Honey is also packed with natural antioxidants and anti-microbial properties which help protect, repair and prevent skin damage. Honey is also quite calming to the skin.
Turmeric powder: For some people, turmeric is new to them while some have known about it, but nevertheless when it comes to this formulation turmeric comes in handy, why? This is because turmeric is rich in curcumin, an antioxidant that help heal wounds and reduces scars and all kinds inflammation such as eczema, rashes, pimples, etc.
Glycerin: Here is another fascinating humectant that pulls moisture from the atmosphere to give the skin its drink, keeps it intensively hydrated to the optimum level. Naturally, the baby’s skin is tender and soft and needs all the moisture it can get to remain that way.
Aloe vera gel: Another great humectant with powerful potentials. Aloe vera is perhaps one of the most widely used herbal remedies for topical skin conditions. This gel-like ingredient is extracted from aloe plant. It contains 75 potentially active constituents: vitamins, enzymes, minerals, sugars, lignin, saponins, salicylic acids and amino acids. Vitamins: It contains vitamins A (beta-carotene), C and E, which are antioxidants. It also contains vitamin B12, folic acid, and choline.
Aloe vera soothes, heals and hydrates the skin, its used to heal wounds such as burns, minor cuts, or small abrasions. It’s also used to treat skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, inflammatory acne and dry skin.
Tea tree essential oil: Here is another medical oil which has been used for decades to treat different kinds of inflammation condition all thanks to its anti-oxidants, anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Tea tree essential oil calm redness, swelling, and inflammation, leaving you with smooth, clear skin.
Lavender essential oil: Lavender essential oil possesses numerous potentials. It has the ability to lessen acne, help lighten skin, and reduce wrinkles. It can even be used to treat other things, like improving hair health and digestion. But topical on your baby’s skin? Lavender oil will come in handy in addressing the issues of inflammation and improve skin radiance, not to mention it has a heavenly scent which will make a good natural fragrance for your DIY baby glowing soap.
Note: Essential oils are not to be used on babies under 3 months. They must be 4 months old and above. That being said, if your baby is under 3 months old, simply exclude tea tree and lavender essential oil and continue with other mentioned ingredients.

Possible Questions & Answers.
Q: Can I use African black soap as a base soap instead?
A: African black soap is made with the combination of some abrasive ingredients which may be ideal for matured skin but harsh for sensitive skin (babies skin) and can result to peelings, dryness and redness. That being said, we don’t recommend using an African black soap for this formulation. You wouldn’t want to risk your baby’s skin and health right?. I’m pretty sure no parent will.
