#1. Afghanistan

The list of the least peaceful countries in the world includes Afghanistan, Nigeria, Iraq, Somalia and Sudan. These are countries that are rife with violence and political instability.

Afghanistan is a country that has been plagued by conflict for decades. The Taliban ruled it for five years before being ousted by US forces in 2001. It has been in a state of almost constant war since then. According to some estimates, there have been around 400 terrorist attacks per year in Afghanistan since 2009.

The people of Afghanistan have to deal with a lack of government resources as well as corruption within their own government and armed groups such as the Taliban and Isis. Yemen has been classified as one of the least peaceful countries in the world. There are many reasons for this, but a common one is due to religious violence. Yemen was once ruled by a series of imams who were able to maintain peace for approximately 200 years until crumbling in 1990 when Yemen was taken over by former president Ali Abdullah Saleh.

The invasion led to some of the most violent events in recent history and caused many casualties among Iraqi civilians and American soldiers.
