Who is Chioma Chukwukah?

Chioma Chukwukah is a renowned Nollywood actress, movie producer, director, actress, and motivational speaker. She bagged the Best Actress award in a leading role by AFRIMA in 2007. She has been starred in hundreds of movies in the industry since she started her acting career.

Chioma grew up in a family of six kids and five relatives. Her father and mother are Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka and Grace Egoyibo Chukwuka.

Chioma Chukwukah was born on the 12th of March, 1980 in Lagos State, Nigeria. The award-winning actress hails from Oraifite, Ekwulusigo local government area, Anambra State, Nigeria.

Educational Background

Chukwukah completed her elementary education at Onwards nursery and primary school, Lagos after which she proceeded to the Federal Government Girls’ College, Anambra state to complete her secondary education.

Chioma graduated from the University of Lagos, where she earned a degree in Banking and Finance.

Chioma had always pictured seeing herself on screen since she was a child but the little challenge she had was from her mum who felt the movie industry was for loose girls.

In 1998, the wave came for the award-winning actress, when she was opportune to go for an audition where she was chosen to play a role in the movie titled ‘little skita’ due to her outstanding performance in the movie.

She is considered one of Nollywood’s highest-paid actresses and one of Nigeria’s most sought after face of Nollywood. In the movie sorrowful, she was greatly applauded for her dramatic, glamorous and as seen in her other movies, which is usually more of romantic films. Her character to play the emotion and cry like a baby cannot go unnoticed by her fans and when she plays the villain it’s as if the heaven is about to fall.

She was allowed to take on minor roles until 2000 when she played a major role in the movie titled ‘the apple’ and since then she has been featured in more than 200 movies and has also progressed from being just an actress to a producer and director.

She claims that Late Henshaw Nuttal, Joke Silva and Ramsey Noah are her inspiration.

For more than a decade, she has been in the industry. She’s popular for the portrayal of good and submissive wife material (just as she is outside of the movies), orphan and mother.

She also plays well the royal princess role, the hostess of a palace, a daughter of a dictator, an industrial working class lady, a girlfriend and above all a holy woman who always protects her own face, which is the reason that she is widely called the Virgin Mary of Nollywood.

In 2000, in her first film entitled “The Handkerchief,” brought Chioma Chukwuka to the limelight as she entered the Nigerian film industry known simply as Nollywood, the movie brought her to prominence and as well open several doors of opportunities in her acting career. She is so fondly named Nollywood Virgin by movie lovers because of her innocent appearance in movies, her ability to avoid sex roles in movies and her ability to prevent social media scandals.

Currently, Chioma Chukwuka is an ambassador of GLO. Before entering the Nigerian film industry, popularly known as Nollywood, she has a career as a backup singer and a dancer at a teenage when she also he started to act.
